Invitations – The excitement and success for any party starts with the invitation. An invitation sets the mood of the event and should create eager anticipation. A party needs guests and the best way to make them feel an ardent welcome is to invite them with a unique theme invitation and of course an expensive birthday function rooms Melbourne.
Thank you notes – You want to end your party with the same courtesy as you started it. A heartwarming thank you for coming is the perfect ending note to any joyous occasion. A tip may be to address your thank you notes at the same time you do your invitations. After a party is over all you want to do is clean up and put it behind you. This way your notes are already to go out to the mailbox as you finish cleaning. For the people who couldn’t make it, make these sorry we missed you notes.
9″ Party Plate – Make things easier on yourself while keeping a consistent theme to your party. When serving food to your guests, use disposable 9″ theme party plates. They will fit any combination of entree items like hot dogs, hamburgers, and chips without sagging or leaking with wet items like coleslaw or baked beans. Using disposable plates allows you to be a proper host and not a maid. These festive plates also help create the festive atmosphere as they are both decorative and functional.
7″ Desert Party Plate – Don’t skimp and ask your guests to eat their dessert off the same plate that held their hot dog with mustard or baked beans. These smaller 7″ matching decorative plates won’t sag when wet with ice cream and they make the portion of dessert seem larger than if it was served on a 9″ plate. There was an interesting psychology study of when food is served on smaller plates the requests for additional portions goes way down.
Cups – Themed paper cups are better than spending your party cleaning up broken glass –
and who has enough of the same glasses anyway? At the worst, if your conversation is not going anywhere, something pretty to look at will fill the dead space.
Forks, Spoons, Knives – You’re putting your party together. Are you going to have your guests use
their fingers? No Way! Get some matching Forks, Spoons and Knives. Get hybrids if you want, but don’t expect performance. Forks, spoons and knives are just that for a reason. Each utensil has a specialized function. There really is a limit to “cheap”.
Luncheon Napkins – Big napkins for big messes. These Luncheon napkins go well with the big plates. Major foods. Hamburgers, hot dogs, baked beans, potato salad, T-bone steaks (OK, maybe not steaks). All I am saying is that you need to match the mess with the cleanup equipment. Don’t embarrass your guests more than they are already.
Beverage Napkins – Little napkins for little messes. I hope you just read about the luncheon napkins. Just enough to sop up most
dribbles of dessert or beverage. Get these beverage napkins to show your guests you have proper etiquette.
Tissue Paper – If you aren’t going to wrap and want a presentable gift, this is
the best stuffing to keep it from jostling around and keep the peeping eyes out!
Favors – Guests absolutely love to get presents. Remember ashtrays, towels and the little soaps in hotel rooms? You might as well just give it to them!
Loot Bags – What are you going to do – have your guests put those favors you gave them in their pockets?
Gift Wrap – Nothing hides it better or looks better than gift wrap! It’s been around for years.
Piñatas – People who throw things in the air and watch it come down, may also love to smack things. A themed piñata is just what you need! You might consider a piñata kit. You might ask, “Just what is a piñata kit”. All the goodies inside of course. Add the ultimate whacker piñata buster (looks like a small baseball bat). No, a real baseball bat is overkill. Do not, I repeat, do not use a real baseball bat! For a little extra “fluff” add some confetti. Confetti is not just for ticker tape parades and new years parties. Besides, who can resist throwing a whole bunch of confetti into the air and watching it come down? Not me.
Table Cover – Cover it up -let your guests spill as they may, then grab the corners, fold it in on itself and, throw it away! You can use paper or plastic and tape it down, thumb tack it or even get those fancy schmancy table cover clips. Just don’t let your table cover go, “Gone with the wind”.
Latex balloons can be coordinated by all the same color, complementing colors as table centerpieces or arrange around a larger Mylar balloon. You might want to look at “High Float” to keep your balloons airborne. It looks pretty bad to have dead balloons during the party.
Foil balloons are great by themselves as centerpieces or bunched with latex balloons to add a festive mood to your celebration. Big ones, small ones, shaped ones, in onezies or bunches it’s the ultimate “balloon experience”.
Above all, choose your party supplies for the guests that will attend. Think about this. If you can find out something that each guest relates to or has a special memory about and you can provide some of that experience – Wow! You rock! People will want to be on your “A” list! For example, I received a book for Christmas, “the ultimate Wine book”, or something like that. I am certainly not an expert, but if you had, say my favorite wine, a cabernet…, would I be amazed if you made some small talk about my hobby? Perhaps a taste of you’re favorite? You bet. This is the best and most neglected part of party planning. The secret is out. Do not tell anyone! Stay tooned for my thoughts on why people have parties. No, it’s not just because of birthdays, anniversaries or graduations.
